DOCTOR WHO defines its season with a huge two-part cliffhanger that concludes next week. My mouth is still open from all the shock and awe, and I love The Doctor’s answer when everyone is asking him what is going on. “I don’t know.” Viewers have to say these three words continuously getting louder, and with your tone jumping several octaves higher. Brilliant moments in an exciting finale.
The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is at his best trying to give Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) the closure she needs about her past. Lucky for us, the writers did not think it should be an easy journey, especially with the introduction of so many new gadgets and unique cast members. It made the entire episode fun and daring until it wasn’t anymore. This is what makes this creative series successful in its endeavors.
Audiences never know what is coming next and how it will be resolved. With this new Doctor, we are also privy to the emotional highs and lows of a Time Lord. Ncuti lights up every frame with his joy and angst all rolled together as one.
DOCTOR WHO is fascinating due to all the sci-fi theories tossed around. “Memory is time and time is memory.” We don’t need an anagram for that, but it does help solve the mysteries of the galaxy. I have an unlimited “Time Window” for The Doctor…the clock is ticking until he returns.
DOCTOR WHO is streaming on Disney+.
