Well, that happened. DAREDEVIL had two episodes randomly play tonight instead of the usual single new edition.
Here’s my review of each episode:
E5: WITH INTEREST 🤮
I had little “interest” in seeing a stand-alone bank robbery episode of DD. While nothing is inherently wrong with it, and it plays breezily enough from start to finish, there’s not much reason for it to exist. Outside of a funny cameo, I would’ve cut this episode entirely from the DD series. It adds zero value to the compelling series.
E6: EXCESSIVE FORCE 🤩
Now, that’s what I’m talking about! This episode is everything audiences have come to love about the new DD series. It focuses on Kingpin and Matt Murdock’s story arcs and “excessively forces” them to make decisions that will alter the series. I loved seeing how Kingpin and Murdock’s journeys are similar in violence yet contrast with why they take their actions.
The ending of E6 is perfect and should set up the final three episodes for an explosive showdown between Kingpin and Daredevil. After all, isn’t that all that audiences want from a DD series?
