DAD STOP EMBARRASSING ME! is Jamie Foxx’s first return to sitcom, comedy television since IN LIVING COLOR. He should have left well enough alone.
This series is outdated in its humor. It is over the top improvisation that never seems to hit its mark. The writing does not give any of the characters any depth, so it is always…go for the joke with a flat punchline.
Jamie Foxx also plays three extra characters in the series. Again, they just don’t work. Even having one of his costars, David Alan Grier, from IN LIVING COLOR portray his father in DAD STOP EMBARRASSING ME! does not make a difference. Nothing could lift this series up to the quality we expect from this dynamic duo except starting over.
I was disappointed. I wanted to laugh and enjoy this series, but, alas, DAD STOP EMBARRASSING ME! only embarrassed itself.
DAD STOP EMBARRASSING ME! is available to stream on Netflix.
