While last week’s CURB was the most quotable of the season, this week’s was easily the funniest. Yet, even with the hilarious Sean Hayes and Dan Levy baby naming bit, the funniest and most bittersweet moments belonged to the late, great Richard Lewis. It’s strange seeing him in CURB, knowing that he passed away a few days before this episode aired. I hope the afterlife brings him ample opportunities to continue to workshop his material (minus the A.A. support).
Outside of seeing Richard Lewis, I enjoyed watching Larry work to become an unstuck fish. The material with him and Freddy Funkhouser (Vince Vaughn) involving Disney was precisely why people keep tuning in to CURB after all these years. It continues to be an offensive comedy that’s not for the squeamish.
After four episodes, I wondered where CURB’s “final season” was heading. But after tonight, the overall season plot is starting to shape out. I have zero “hate” or “dislike” speech for E5. It’s all worthy of a Disney “senior” character.
The latest episode is available on Max.
