I haven’t heard much buzz about CAUSEWAY, and I went into this movie not knowing anything about it other than it starred Jeniffer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry. Judging solely from the poster, I expected something much darker and brooding and prepared myself for a long, emotionally intense story. Instead, I was treated to a 92-minute, crisply presented tale about friendship that was emotionally intense.
CAUSEWAY is a movie about loneliness, self-forgiveness, and adjusting. The plot is strong enough for its runtime, and the movie is visually beautiful in its depictions of a seldom-seen somber New Orleans. I recommend this film if you’re looking for a soft-spoken psychological drama.
CAUSEWAY is streaming on Apple TV+.
