After 174 episodes, BLUEY delivers its longest and most emotionally satisfying episode. For those uninitiated, BLUEY has been the children’s show over the last seven years. It does what children’s TV does best. It provides life lessons to kids while reminding parents what it feels like to be a little again.
What made THE SIGN so special was watching it with my almost two-year-old son, Aiden. The themes were way over his head, but he laughed at the dancing dogs, the cup falling, and liked the police officer. As for me? Tears were rolling down my face by the end. Aiden noticed and asked me, “Daddy’s sad?” And I explained to him that they were happy tears. Without a beat, Aiden gave me a big hug. It didn’t last long, though, as within less than a second, he said, “Daddy play toys now?” And that right there is the magic of BLUEY. It somehow reminded me how to be a better parent and kids to just be.
Aiden will likely not remember that moment, nor several of the ones we are making at his young age. Will I be lucky enough to remember these times? In the words of BLUEY, “We’ll see.”
BLUEY is available on Disney+.
