BETWEEN THE TEMPLES ๐Ÿ˜Š

BETWEEN THE TEMPLES is a quirky May/December rom-com and an intimate journey involving a Cantor in crises. Whew. It is, however, a dark comedy especially when featuring the stellar acting skills of Carol Kane and Jason Schwartzman. The movie delves into the norms of the Jewish community. It pulls on heartstrings and traditions. It might not be for everyone, but it is entertaining and does feature the glorious, absurdity of Carol Kane.ย

The writing explores several avenues for those who find themselves questioning life. Jason and Carol were strong in their yin/yang struggles. Subtlety was never Carolโ€™s forte. This was evident throughout, and because of the intricate topic, the entire ensemble granted her much leeway. Yet, there was not enough consistency for me. I needed more to be swept away in my suspension of disbelief. I needed to be surprised and have reasons to believe this story.ย

BETWEEN THE TEMPLES is a bit of a fantasy farce for me. If that is what audiences are searching for this movie season, then this film will be your cup of tea.

BETWEEN THE TEMPLES is streaming on NETFLIX.
