AND JUST LIKE THAT S3E3 CARRIE GOLIGHTY ๐Ÿคฎ

In episode 3 of AND JUST LIKE THAT… Carrie continues the game of cat and mouse with Aidan. And frankly, I’m kinda done with it. I’m not sure what shifted from episode 1 to these past two episodes, where the writing has taken a drastic decline and just feels so out of touch with reality. This on-and-off situation with Carrie and Aidan feels so draining for everyone involved. The acting feels forced, and I don’t feel any emotion behind the motivations. Everyone feels like they’re working in their own interest. None of them are very likable, which is devastating, as there used to be a time when women were walking around proudly proclaiming whether they were a Carrie or a Samantha; now I feel embarrassed to be a Charlotte. The problems do not feel relatable, but maybe that’s just because I’m not an uber-rich woman living in a mansion in the heart of New York who somehow does not work and is still pulling the same stunts at 50 that she did in her 30s. The appeal with shows like FRIENDS or the OG SEX AND THE CITY is that even though they were unrealistic, they felt magical and you wanted to live the fantasy vicariously through them. This feels unrealistic, yet distant and grand, with the most extravagant problems, so I no longer want to be Carrie Bradshaw.

I saw a film last year, THE FABULOUS FOUR, which I assumed I would love due to my passion for 80 FOR BRADY and BOOK CLUB. However, the movie for me was an experience never; it was oddly forced with SUPER weird undertones, and the female friendships were not necessarily ones you wanted to strive for. I feel the same way watching AND JUST LIKE THAT… that I felt sitting in the theater and watching THE FABULOUS FOUR. The problems are embarrassing and foolish, and the characters feel like stereotypes rather than women I idolize.

I will continue to watch the show and hope that these last two episodes were just a blip, as I did really enjoy episode 1. Unfortunately, the outlook is not good.

AND JUST LIKE THAT is now streaming on MAX.
