Anyone who loves solving a good murder mystery will thoroughly enjoy A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER. It is fast-paced with tons of twists and turns, and the premise’s believability rests on Pip’s tiny shoulders (Emma Myers).
Solving a five-year-old mystery would be difficult, especially in a small English village where everyone knows each other…or so they think they do. At first, I found it absurd that this young schoolgirl could decipher all the clues and attitudes from the people involved, but once I accepted that her diminutive size did not matter, the rest fell into place. I was charmed by her tenacity and facial expressions to learn the truth no matter where it led. I was also mesmerized by her continually going into cars, buildings, and dark forests to get to the bottom. It was binge-worthy of my time.
The chemistry between Pip, her best friend, and soulful. Wannabe boyfriend, Ravi, added another level to this sometimes soapy story. She was a good girl with excellent morals and knew right from wrong. This is endearing in today’s climate of argumentative dissension.
A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER is pure escapism. It will lead viewers on a murderous journey with a lovely conclusion with real consequences for all who think there is a “dark little see” inside our heads.
