Day 4 of 12

“If you believe in this spirit thing, the miracle will happen and then you’ll want it to happen again tomorrow… It can happen every day, you’ve just got to want that feeling.”

– Bill Murray in SCROOGED

Last summer, TED LASSO got away with making a perfect Christmas special in the middle of August! Episode four, CAROL OF THE BELLS, has all the bells and whistles of a Christmas classic. From giving, friends, family, and feeling alone – it’s a twenty-three-minute stocking stuffer that no household should skip. In fact, my wife and I have officially added it to our annual holiday watchlist.

Every character in this sugar-coated episode is on their best behavior, and they all get to experience the magic of Christmas. Or, as Higgins (Jeremy Swift) says in a welcoming tone, “to the family, we are born with, and to the family, we make along the way.”

CAROL OF THE BELLS is a stand-alone special that even people who don’t watch TED LASSO can dive in and enjoy. It’s a reminder of giving from your heart during the holiday season. Regardless of a couple of F-bombs, this small slice of “Double O heaven” is perfect for the entire family.

As Ted states, just like ONCE, audiences will love it so much that they should see it twice on Apple TV+.
