YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA 🤩

YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA is a feel-good, heartwarming film based on a true story by Glenn Stout. The movie will make viewers smile for hours after the credits roll, and they will be inspired by the life of Trudy Ederle, portrayed by the amazing Daisy Ridley.

Trudy Ederle was the first woman to swim the English Channel. Twenty-one miles of dangerous riptides, jellyfish, freezing water, and five miles of the “shallows” make for a near-impossible swim. Many strong men had failed over and over. No woman had ever been allowed to try it, but that never stopped Trudy from doing anything in her life. She defied the odds with her perseverance and tenacity to never give up. This young woman changed the face of women participating in sports. Today’s athletes stand on Trudy’s strong shoulders. I am not giving away any spoilers. What she accomplished is a part of American history. What makes YOUNG WONAN AND THE SEA so stellar is traveling her journey beside her to success. She was and will ways be considered a phenomenon for all time.

The ensemble of actors includes Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Jeanette Hain, Stephen Graham, and Lim Bodnia. Spectacular performance, which constantly created empathy and delight. Daisy was at the core of this tale. Her facial expressions launched and projected the action forward with panache’ and true grit. The authentic clips at the end were the icing on the cake. What a tremendous labor of love to get this film completed.

To say this reviewer loved YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA would be an understatement. Watching it should be required for children (both boys and girls) who dare the universe with a dream larger than their small neighborhood or background. No one should be told “no.” Rather, our society should work on saying “what if…”

“In the morning, in the evening, Ain’t we got fun.”
