WHITE LOTUS is back – or rather, we’re back to the White Lotus. Armed with an (almost) new cast, the hit from last year picks up an unspecified period of time after the tense events of the first season. Unlike last year’s installment, we’re going into this one with somewhat of an expectation of the rollercoaster we’re about to ride – I’m just not convinced that it’ll have the same thrill (yet.)
The cast seems incredibly promising, though. Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, Haley Lu Richardson, and F. Murray Abraham had some chances to shine in the season premiere. The dynamics, age ranges, and circumstances of the group should play out well, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of these interactions. But my biggest concern so far is that I have no motivation to watch the next episode. I watched this episode yesterday and have almost no recollection of the cliffhanger. But I’ll be patient – I wasn’t disappointed last season, and I trust showrunner Mike White to get me fully checked in.
WHITE LOTUS is available to stream on HBO Max.
