Our favorite Staten Island vampires got up to some of the best antics we’ve seen in this show and reminded me of what makes WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS so fun. PRIDE PARADE revolves around a few equally amusing situations; our favorite human, Sean, is running for Burrough Comptroller and enlists Lazslo’s help for the titular pride parade, Nadja’s Ghost is on a mission to get “completely and utterly railed,” and Nandor’s ambitions are out of this world.
WWIDTS is character-driven, but beyond that, whenever we get episodes like this, where our lovable blood-suckers are put in ridiculous situations, I’m reminded why I love this show and the film that inspired five delicious seasons. There’s enough melodrama in every other comedy on air right now, and WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS thrives when it’s lighthearted.
