UNTAMED is a limited series that takes place in the wilderness of Yosemite National Park. Even though it was filmed in British Columbia, the beauty and rawness of the stunning landscape take on a character of their own. It is a murder mystery series which includes several heavy-hitting sub-plots, including grief, physical abuse, abduction, and a peek at the Indigenous ways.Â
Kyle Turner (Eric Dana), Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt), and Vasquez (Lily Santiago) gave UNTAMED its emotional depth and anchored the complicated story. What kept my interest was their honest and intentional acting. The little pauses and silences made a huge difference. It felt authentic as the characters wove their path through old wounds. The opening action scene immediately stole my attention, and trying to solve the Park Rangers’ dilemmas kept me coming back for more.Â
UNTAMED was entertaining and thought-provoking. It will make viewers think about what goes on behind the scenes while enjoying a vacation getaway at a national park. It is truly another world of tight community members who are dealing with lots of shit while trying to keep campers safe from not only natural predators, but those of the two-legged variety.Â
