UNITED STATES OF AL was all about birthdays this week, and the fact that most Afghanistan people do not know the exact day they were born. Al (Adhir Kalyan) figured he was 28 or 29.
Riley’s (Parker Young) daughter decided to let Al share her 11th birthday party. And Riley slowly learned he had to accept the new man in his soon-to-be ex-wife’s life. Basically, they both learned a lesson in humility, gratitude, and acceptance.
UNITED STATES OF AL was humorous and kept up a quick pace throughout the episode. The ensemble’s chemistry is what makes this series work and it always helps me understand a totally different culture and its customs. I actually wanted even more educational moments.
