TICKET TO PARADISE is an enjoyable, predictable rom-com starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts. It is fun to hear Juliaās boisterous laugh again and look deep into Georgeās beautiful eyes. Just donāt expect anything too complicated.Ā Ā
The scenic location of this film is Bali. Gorgeous cinematography with perfectly timed sunsets. It is probably on most bucket lists to visit (Mine included). I thoroughly loved learning about the culture, values, customs, and wedding ceremony traditions. It was thoughtfully integrated into the core of the film.Ā
TICKET TO PARADISE had many serious moments throughout the story. It was more about acceptance of who you are, wherever you are now. Letting go of painful mistakes from the past is the first step. Divorce is messy and can leave unresolvedĀ issues that will come up, especially when witnessing a new love match. Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) played the daughter caught in the middle. This is where the writers could have helped move the plot along and given the viewers more necessary ācharacterā layers, and the editors could have sharpened their cutting tools as well. Donāt get me wrongā¦I liked this movie. It felt as if I was visiting old friends. It just could have been more.Ā
My favorite scenes were āpongā playing and dancing with Julia and George. They always appear so natural together and at ease, even when wearing the wrong underwear and yoga pants. āUpgradingā is not always the key. I do have to question all the jumpsuits Julia wore, even though she would be stunning wearing a potato sack.Ā
TICKET TO PARADISE is for the fans. Donāt expect more, and you wonāt be disappointed. I wasnāt.
It is available in theaters everywhere.Ā
