Note to readers: If youāve watched last weekās episode, you know what THIS IS US deals with in the latest addition. Itās impossible to review without mentioning it. So Iāll be talking about that main plot. PleaseĀ stopĀ reading here if youāre like me and donāt want anything spoiled.
DONāT LET ME KEEP YOU is a slow burn edition of THIS IS US that has one masterfully done ending. Unless it focuses on Vietnam, audiences donāt usually get an all Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) episode, so this is a rare treat.Ā
Actor Milo Ventimiglia is a āJackā of all trades. Weāve seen him play Jack Pearson over the years, and through the good and the bad, we relate to his journey. As Jack loses his mother (Laura Niemi), itās devastating to watch. Even if youāre lucky enough to have both of your parents alive, the idea of ānot having a mom anymoreā is frightening. Watching Jack try to carry the weight of his family and the safety of his mom on his shoulders, makes for the best episode yet of season six.Ā
Itās fitting that THIS IS US saved this narrative for the final season. As we continue to say goodbye to the Pearsons, there are so many stories left to tell. Ones of ice skating, sledding, and tomato soup with hot dogs.
THIS IS US has different levels in which it leaves audiences in tears. Most of them are š¢. But there are rare episodes like tonight that will leave audiences ugly crying to š š¤§ epic proportions.Ā
Thank you to the THIS IS US writers for telling such a powerful story to connect audiences with their families. The lesson is loud and clear ā never pass up a chance to visit your mom, and more significantly, always take their calls.
THIS IS US is available on NBC/Peacock.
