Jami stated in her review of THE WHITE LOTUS last week, “it’s such a tease.” Last season I binged all of this series over a weekend. I remember thinking it was terrific, although with a bit of overhype.

In season two, I keep waiting for the big reveal, but it continues to be a “tease” for the most part. This episode is the closest we’ve come to having the plot inch forward in promising ways. Yet, despite this being the best episode so far in season two, I’m still not in love with it. It’s like Tarush said in his E1 review, “I’ll be patient – I trust showrunner Mike White to get me fully checked in.”

A few characters this week explore “crimes of opportunity.” Those crimes will likely take this series in a direction that’s as audacious as season one. If not, that’s okay. I’ll stay star-struck by the gorgeous Italian scenario and the compelling cast.

It’s available on HBO Max.
