THE QUILTERS 🤩

THE QUILTERS is a fabulous documentary that chronicles the special inmates at a Missouri maximum-security state prison who are choosing to make a difference. The goal is to create a quilt for every child within their county foster care system. These male prisoners are giving back to their community while healing the demons in their souls.

Every day, five times a week, from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm, these inmates work at their craft. Qualifying for this program is challenging, but the rewards are substantial. If they slip up even once and get written up, they are out. It teaches these men how it feels to have a purpose in life without resorting to anger and violence to get through the day.  Watching the men sew, organize fabric, design, and complete their projects was a joyous experience.

THE QUILTERS is only thirty minutes, but every moment is packed with tons of those tingly feelings and goose bumps that overtake our bodies when seeing something extraordinary. The film is excellent and well-done. It shared a story that most of us don’t know anything about, and made me smile, that for once, the powers that be are doing something good. I am so impressed.

THE QUILTERS is streaming on Netflix.
