It’s good to be back writing a review for everyone’s favorite intense medical drama, THE PITT. The show continues to be less about one big storyline and more focused on the operational aspects of how emergency room staff help patients. While that’s not nearly as exciting as the first season’s main story, it’s captivating enough to have audiences tune in weekly.
What stood out most this week was the medical staff’s focus on doing their best to care for patients with love and care. From Louie in previous weeks to the obese patient now, there’s so much heart (physical and emotional) in this series.
Elsewhere, it was fun watching the analog struggles in a digital world. You can feel that once again, things are building towards a bigger incident in S2. And the setup for going back to the late 19th century should make for a fun back half of episodes this season.
Final Thought: At one point, a patient states, “We all need a community.” Without sounding too cheesy, THE PITT’s staff and patients have been my community, and exactly what I’m looking for every Thursday night.
THE PITT is streaming on HBO Max.
