THE PATIENT is a limited psychodrama series that deals with Alanās (Steve Carell) latest client. It is compelling, creepy, and a little crazy.Ā
Sam (Domhnall Gleeson) is looking for help. How Sam deals with his life choices places Alan and him on a collision course of intrigue and suspense. This is why I would never want to be a therapist. The danger is everywhere, and Sam is not in a good, solid, mental place since he is also dealing with his grief and frayed family relationships.Ā
Each episode is only 21 minutes. The dialogue is a tad slow, but it is just warming up. The plot has my full attention. I want to know where they go from here and how the writers sustain momentum for eight more quickies. SteveĀ Carell is excellent, as always. His intense, quiet way of processing gets to me every time.Ā
THE PATIENT has my attention, especially with the cliffhanger ending. I will watch if death, murder, and mayhem are in the cards.Ā
