THE PARENTING was a silly sem-horror/comedy. It boasted a group of talented, well-known actors who understood how to deliver comedic dialogue. The story had tons of promise but didn’t quite land the ending. It needed more humorous and scary moments. It seemed to just scoot along the edges of both genres.
The ensemble included Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Dean Norris, Brian Cox, Brandon Flynn, and Nik Dodani. They were all entertaining as they maneuvered through the getaway weekend of surprises. It all needed more, especially during the final seconds. Lisa’s running gag was not enough.
THE PARENTING received mixed reviews from Rotten Tomatoes and the public. I can see why. Some movies just wind up in the abyss of “meh.”
