THE IDEA OF YOU is the perfect rom-com film to immerse and lose yourself in the story of an older woman and a younger man’s romantic journey. The dynamic duo, Anne Hathaway as Solene and Nickolas Galitzine as Hayes was perfect casting and allowed for many magical, lustful moments. It was based on the best-selling novel by Robbinne Lee who created the leading male character after Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde’s hot affair. 

What worked so well for this film was the easy dialogue and bantering not only between the MAY/DECEMBER couple but also among Solene’s sixteen-year-old daughter and best friend. Every frame was beautifully created to make the look of two lovers come alive within the acceptable boundaries of today’s society and social media frenzy. Underlying all the drama and angst of truly finding love was the glare of what others thought. Face it, people can be cruel. 

Anne was stunning as Solene. She brought this woman to life as she evolved into the light of love. It was breathtaking to watch. Her life became enviable, and I am sure gave women of a certain age permission to dream about “what if?” 

THE IDEA OF YOU is a sweet, poignant, loving account of what finding “the one” in all the wrong places looks like. It gives single women and men hope and feeds the souls of couples everywhere. It is streaming on Prime Video.
