THE GORGE is an action, thriller, romance film that puts a capital F in the word Fantasy. It is improbable yet moves quickly, guiding audiences into pure escapism.Ā
The chemistry between Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Levi (Miles Teller) was entertaining and believable. They made the implausible feel real, a huge feat with all the holes and fog. Sigourney Weaver played a great antagonist. Too bad there werenāt more scenes showcasing her talent. Her screen presence could haveĀ beenĀ a great filler.Ā
AS I SEE ITā¦For those visually impaired, the film was very dark, with immense clouds of fog everywhere. It was impossible to catch what the āHollow Menā looked like. It made for a not-very-scary climax. I would have been up a creek if it werenāt for the English AD option.Ā
THE GORGE was one of those films often described as just okay. It was a shame because there were several missed opportunities for stronger, better storytelling.Ā
THE GORGE is streaming on Apple TV+.Ā
