THE GILDED AGE was all about “the” wedding of New York society in the 1880s.Â
The costume designers and crew outdid themselves, bringing authenticity and beauty to the screen. The gowns, the hats, the servants’ wardrobe, and the men’s suits were lavish and perfect for the period. It was gorgeous to see it all unfold amid the drama trans behind the scenes. Who doesn’t love a bit of gossip?
Money problems were also receiving a great deal of attention. The have and have nots are highlighted along with their quibbling dialogues at every turn. It will be immensely fun to see where it all lands in the coming episodes. The series has it all… grief, civil rights, sĂ©ances, inventions, duels, and Nathan Lane. The writers delightfully know how to keep the viewer’s attention.Â
THE GILDED AGE is a dramatic kick. I secretly want Agnes (Christina Baranski) to move in with me. She is a powerhouse woman who has the best words to spew. Kudos to all for keeping it real while maintaining high standards in acting and visual quality.Â
THE GILDED AGE is streaming on HBO MAX.Â
