THE DAY OF THE JACKAL is a spellbinding, adventure, spy thriller series based on the original novel by Fredrick Forsyth. It moves lightning-fast throughout Europe and defies all disbelief. It is thrilling entertainment about a world most of us know nothing about.Â
Eddie Redmayne brilliantly portrays The Jackal with panache, chutzpah, and enough vulnerability to create a realistic character. He is the supreme sniper and is currently caught between the reality of his reality and his chosen career. The chase scenes are breath-stopping. Eddie’s eyes say it all with cool calculation. His extra beats leave no room for mercy. I have shouted out several times while watching his stellar performing skills and masterful disguises. I must look at everyone differently when I am at an airport.Â
Lashana Lynch, as Bianca, is a notable adversary. Her feelings are often masked deep within her huge, expressive brown eyes. At times, I get confused about who to cheer for to win. The lines are so blurred due to the strong writing and acting.Â
THE DAY OF THE JACKAL has four more episodes to complete its first season. I am impressed it has already been renewed. I am a glutton for gasping out of evil, undercover, intelligent scenarios.
It is streaming on PEACOCK.Â
