THE ACOLYTE S1E6 TEACH/CORRUPT 😊

(L-R): Osha Aniseya (Amandla Stenberg) and the Stranger (Manny Jacinto) in Lucasfilm's THE ACOLYTE, season one, exclusively on Disney+. ©2024 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

It seems like the end of last week’s episode and the beginning of this week’s episode may be the peak of the show so far. TEACH/CORRUPT isn’t inherently a bad episode; but with only two episodes left after this one, it feels like too little, too late.

Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, and Lee Jung-jae have possibly become my only reasons to continue watching – especially Jacinto. I’ve only seen him in THE GOOD PLACE, and his casting in THE ACOLYTE is an excellent subversion of what audiences may have come to expect of him.

I have a bit of a curse with STAR WARS shows; I haven’t finished ANDOR, AHSOKA, OBI-WAN, or TALES OF THE EMPIRE – all of which may be considered better shows. That being said, I really do want to finish THE ACOLYTE. Maybe it’s the cast, the show’s ambition, or morbid curiosity, but I need this show’s finale to make it worth it – and I’m giving it all the chances I can.

THE ACOLYTE is available to stream on Disney+.
