The second season of the TV series based on a movie that no one asked for is mid. While it’s clear that Seth MacFarlane has a way with one-liners, innovative comedic bits, and understands what it was like to grow up in the early 90s, it’s not enough to have the same impact as the first season.
But here’s the surprise: there are four episodes that actually made me laugh out loud and, shockingly, even tugged at my heartstrings. These are the ones audiences will love:
- E4: THE MOM’s BOMBED ROM-COM: Matty (Scott Grimes) learns what a rom-com is, and it’s heartfelt comedy at its best.
- E5: THE SWORD IN THE STONED: Just when you think the gross-out comedy couldn’t go there, it does in one of the most hilarious high school play sequences ever.
- E7: SUSAN IS THE NEW BLACK: Susan goes to jail, and the results are perfectly timed, giving Alanna Ubach a chance to shine.
- E8: FRAUDCAST NEWS: The OJ verdict results, and Matty’s health scare allow for the extremely inventive newscast to have season two end on a “high” note.
Final Thought: I had a good time with both seasons of Ted, but I’m ready for Seth MacFarlane to unleash his wild sense of humor on something brand new.
