SWEET MAGNOLIAS will make their fans yearn for a simpler life in Serenity, South Carolina. This is where friendship, love, family, and community are key to living the good life. The fourth season continues the paths of three friends since childhood and everyone around them. It is a large ensemble and best enjoyed if viewers start at the beginning. I have watched every episode. I feel as though I am an extended part of their pack.Â
SWEET MAGNOLIAS is written with women in mind. It stresses all the right phrases that encourage emotional growth, absolute acceptance, courage, respect, and loyalty. The situations are often over-the-top but are always worked out with expressing female truths while enjoying margarita night. The three women, Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue, always say the perfect thing. Their men, children, and moms in their lives are perfect as well, but I doubt they exist in the real world. The writers and cast have created a fantasy, soapy drama. It is well done if audiences are looking for an escape.Â
SWEET MAGNOLIAS is entertaining at what they present. Affirmations fly out of everyone’s mouth. It could be considered sappy, but then perhaps you might just need another pitcher of margaritas.Â
