STRANGER THINGS dropped three new episodes of its Hawkins, Indiana, odyssey.Ā Ā It was filled with action and angst. It blew me away how everything was on the edge of destruction, yet there was always time for a fifteen-minute emotional reveal and a list of regrets we had to hear at that precise moment first. Annoying? Yes, but I do understand and acknowledge the necessity of building tension every step of the way. These three installments are leading audiences down a specific path that will conclude on January 1st.Ā Ā No stone in this āupside downā world will be left unexplained or unsaid.Ā
I will not give away anything. I want fans of this quirky, 1980ās scenario to witness it for themselves. These ākidsā have grown up, no matter how hard the costume designer tries to hide their curves in some pretty hideous clothes. I find it funny how many times Joyce or Hopper chat about letting go or holding back their protective nature of raising a child. These āchildrenā have proven themselves over and over. I am betting they will come through in the end.
The creative visual of this violent world is spot-on. Slimy, creepy, stark, and explosive are key adjectives to describe the landscape. The crazy, complicated plot allows for most anything to happen, and it does. The army will never stop, nor will the hideous Vecna let go of his mission. It all boils down to the finale. I am so āthere.ā
STRANGER THINGS keeps audiences guessing who will survive. It is not the type of show that will go quietly or gently into the night (Everyone continually shouts and argues for control). I canāt wait. I want more answers and a different, more worldly conclusion. I figure I will get my wish. Hawkins canāt muddle on much more.
