STERLING POINT was a good teen-and-young-adult coming-of-age series. It featured all the usual emotional angst and sexual tension required and then even added several interesting plot twists that were unexpected. It was fresh and fast-moving, with interesting characters and lush, gorgeous scenic backgrounds. I liked it more than I thought I would, but at times my advanced, more experienced age wanted everyone to make better choices.
STERLING POINT deals with a smidge of past indiscretions and much more about current relationships among siblings, parents, and romantic partners. The writers were able to show how delicate and fragile growing up can be. The entire ensemble was well cast. Annie, Ellis, Ramona, Oona, Connor, Rory, Maple, and Sully had real problems to sift through while making their mixed-up lives appear authentic and normal. This gang of friends was at the foundation of every episode. The adults in the series faltered and flailed far more. It was an entertaining look at how young people can take control of situations they should have never had to deal with in the first place. This made the first season binge-worthy. I sure did.
STERLING POINT will surely be back again. There were several cliffhangers that need a conclusion. I have a feeling I will be watching. I have to know what happens to this grass-is-greener plot line. I have no doubt young people will continue to flock to this “Will she? Won’t he?” kind of mentality.
