STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS is all about fixing a “contamination” problem from the past with disastrous results. Who knew ringing in your ears could add to memory loss as well? The writers were adamant for viewers to choose “living in the moment.” Difficult to do while maintaining the Enterprise and completing their mission both on the planet and off. It begs the question, “Who are we?” How can we trust our basic instincts and not get lost in the gray abyss? “The stories of our lives do matter.” Forgetting this is not an option.
For me, this episode, AMONG THE LOTUS EATERS, was not on the same level as previous ones. This is not the fault of the ensemble or the director. The writing was just too muddied and confusing. It was resolved too quickly. I needed more camaraderie from the crew. I loved the closing line. It made me smile for pilots everywhere. STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS just makes me realize what a “Trekkie” I really am. It is available to stream on PARAMOUNT.
