We’re not going to spoil a single thing about this one, because the less you know, the more of an impact this film will have on you. Suffice it to say, this is a true Spider-Man celebration. Everything you love about the character, and everything you’ve wanted to see, and more.
SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME delivers on the spectacle level, on the humor, on the action, and on the heart. This one puts our pal Peter Parker through the wringer from the movie’s very first frame. That being said, Holland is once more up to the task, showcasing by far his best, most mature performance in this role to date. But I can also safely say that the entire ensemble deserves a standing ovation for this one. I just don’t think I’ve been as satisfied with a film since AVENGERS ENDGAME, and this is easily the best live-action SPIDER-MAN film to date (possibly the best SPIDER-MAN movie ever though I have yet to decide on if I like this more than INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE or not), and as far as the MCU goes (while I need time to rank that too) I feel like this one will easily crack the top 5.
There are little nitpicks here and there for the movie from a technical standpoint. A friend I spoke with criticized the pacing in the first act though I didn’t particularly have issues with it. And some of the CG effects can get dodgy in very, very minor doses. But otherwise, narratively, character growth, spectacle, and fun, as a comic book and Spidey fan, this is singlehandedly the best time I’ve had at the movies since 2019.
Do everything you can to avoid spoilers! And if you’ve seen it already, come find me so we can cry tears of joy for the triumphant accomplishment this movie represents to the SPIDER-MAN franchise!
