If you’re looking for a show to fill the void that THE BEAR left, DOGS is for you. While it’s not quite as intense, it has a similar vibe in that the characters all feel realistic. Oh, and the lead character’s name happens to be Bear.
E1 and E2 do a fantastic job catching the audience up on what has happened since S1. And it does all of this with spirituality, 90s hip-hop, and a ton of funny moments. Yet, most importantly, RESERVATION DOGS is about trying to figure out who you are as a teen after a life-defining loss. Every character in this show is adapting, and it’s brilliantly realized.
On the other hand, E3 is about second chances for Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai). While the latest episode is a tad more serious, one can’t fault creator Sterlin Harjo for allowing their characters to grow.
I’m the first to admit that I continue to “Free Fall” in love with this show that proves that “catfish is life.”
It’s available on Hulu FX.
