RENEGADE NELL S1 SEASON REVIEW 🤩

RENEGADE NELL is a breath of fresh air and campy fun. It is a unique period series with some historical events highlighted during the Jacobites’ attempt to overthrow England’s royal lineage. But do be aware it is pure fantasy – involving a pixie, the dark arts, and super strength.

The show is delightful due to the superb acting talents of Louisa Harland as Nell. She soon learns that her destiny is not what she thought it would be. And that’s a good thing for viewers. Her journey leads her to larger adventures than she ever dreamed of and has an impact on all those around her. Billy Blind (Rick Mohammed from TED LASSO) also created a fascinating duo, but the entire ensemble was perfectly cast as well. They included Frank Dillane, Alice Kremelberg, (from WITCHER fame) Enyi Okoronkwo, No Bragaskn, Adrian Lester, and adorable Florence Keen. It was a joy to watch them all in action no matter if they were good or evil.

The costumes for RENEGADE NELL were excellent. I have not seen so many gorgeous Kinsale cloaks and extraordinary horse-drawn coaches all in one series. Kudos. I also must mention one of the episodes that included an extremely well-done, fast-paced musical production number. I could not stop smiling while watching.

HOW I SEE IT…Several fighting and swordplay scenes were very difficult to decipher who was who. I had to ask which character was winning at different moments throughout the action. Billy Blind exited and entered within a blink of an eye. Be forewarned, this did not make a single change for those of us who are visually impaired. I thoroughly enjoyed the positivity and hope of the entire show.

RENEGADE NELL was found quite by accident. It brought me wonderfully entertaining escapism from reality. I wish more pixies could set our current world on a better path.  I can’t wait for another season. It is streaming on Disney+.
