RED ONE has a great message for kids of all ages this holiday season. It is a family-friendly film that is loved by the public but not so much by critics. These kinds of movies always interest me because there is a huge disconnect between viewers and those who like to tell us what to watch. I am also included in this group, but this time, I am staying totally neutral.
RED ONE features a great cast of stars, including Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Lucy Lui, J.K. Simmons, and Bonnie Hunt. They play extraordinary, mythological characters who shed light on how Santa does it all once a year. The film is wild and action-packed, with just the right amount of sappy moments. I realize this is a fantasy, but hey, this is the best time of year to be swept away in magical, sometimes silly, and heart-warming interludes.
RED ONE makes it clear that Nick “works for the kids, even when the kids aren’t kids anymore.” I love that mantra, which always follows when making good choices. Great lessons for everyone no matter what your chronological age might be.
