PURPLE HEARTS 😊 

PURPLE HEARTS is a film that “could have” but fell short. The musical numbers and the disagreements were the highlights. It was billed as a romantic drama, but I needed more heat and chemistry.  

Cassie (Sophia Carson) had moments as she verbally fought her “love” interest. She also had the opportunity to belt out several emotional songs. The girl can sing, no doubt. Cassie and Luke (Nicholas Galitzine) showed the most facial expressions when the credits rolled. They were a cute couple who needed to deliver more than just staring deep into each other’s eyes. 

I enjoyed the topics that were brought up and “discussed.”  Immigration, health care, addiction, and the toll of diabetes are necessary for all Americans to hear about and then come to a consensus. I wanted more along these lines. This was the movie’s strength and made it intriguing and compelling. The plot, for the most part, was predictable, but hey, it is a romance story, so I expected that. 

PURPLE HEARTS won’t win over many “hearts.” Sad, to say, it was just another love story. Watch it or not. It just won’t make a lasting impact.
