It is no wonder that PORCELAIN WAR has been nominated for Best Documentary at the upcoming Oscars. It is brilliantly filmed. The cinematography took audiences deep within the preparation, fighting, and aftermath. It is subtle in its approach. It does not beat viewers over the head with their thoughts. The result is breathtaking and an honest approach to the artisan inside each of us. We learn why Ukrainians won’t give up. It is a simple, stunning revelation about a proud people. 

PORCELAIN WAR is an exceptional film about a horrendous moment in history. It has been said that artists are passionate and angst-driven. They can, through their creations, envision a world beyond each battle for survival. My heart breaks for Ukraine’s loss of land and lives. I often wonder how Americans react in a similar situation and what specific part of our civilization would be discovered in future centuries.
