ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING has done it again! It is rare when a top-notch comedy series can recreate a second season that is even better than the first. Two episodes are currently available, and it feels so good to be back around murder and mayhem at The Arconia.

Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) are PERSONS Of INTEREST after season 1’s cliffhanger. The storyline continues immediately after Mabel finds Bunny in her apartment, dead by knitting needles. “Oh my God!” What a hoot! The three take off with their usual banter, timing, pacing, body language, and facial expressions. The writers know these characters, inside and out, and these consummate actors have such chemistry together that it feels like visiting with old friends.

I loved the references to the possibility of a season 2 podcast. A perfect running gag that is even extended in the second installment. Cracked me up every time someone said, “are we doing a second season?” The dialogue is fast-paced, super witty. Every ounce of broad and subtle comedy is extracted from the script.

ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING takes us on a journey where “14” and sexy paintings might be important. It brings back Tina Fey and introduces Amy Schumer. It spouts lines like “You can become famous for doing good things or you can become infamous for doing terrible acts.” (Maybe “bloody Mabel” would know). In any case, I do not “need a life away from death.” It is available to stream on HULU.
