According to Tina Fey, ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING went out with a bang and a hint of another season coming next fall. And we all trust and believe Tina as Cinda Canning, right?
Oh, the twists and turns of this finale. So many loose threads pulled and laid to rest, yet still leaving a trail of unrest. Tim Kono (Julian Cihi) narrated the episode. All it took was 23 seconds in an elevator with the trio, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, played by Steven Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. One small, minuscule connection and everyone’s lives are changed forever.
There was the iconic basement scene with the “thing” connecting to another “thing,” fireplaces, emerald ring, bassoonist cleaning tool, and Doogie Howser jokes. The elevator scenes were phenomenal. Steve Martin is the gibberish king all while Sting’s FIELDS OF GOLD was played. The complete, utter chaos of it all was breathtaking and hilarious.
In the end, who really was Tim Kono? I wish I could say. ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING was a tour de force of talent, writing, star power, editing, and creativity that left nothing on the table. I will definitely miss this series. I might even take up podcasting. I just have to find the Arconia Building.
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING is available to stream on HULU.
