NCIS: TONY & ZIVA S1 REVIEW 😊

NCIS: TONY & ZIVA was an action-packed, sarcastically humorous, romantic look at the world of spies, agents, bad guys, and tech support. It took audiences across the globe visiting the rich and powerful, while also being made aware of the underbelly of this type of occupation. It was entertaining, but at times felt inauthentic.

The writers continually used the flashback technique to bring audiences up to date on Tony and Ziva’s lives, and they have a ton of backstories to wade through. At times, it got very old. I believe the number of episodes could have been fewer than ten. Several filler story arcs were not necessary. Spy thrillers should be tight and edgy. The show managed to get the edgy part, but the whole experience did not put me on the edge of my seat as I would have liked.

Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) had immense chemistry together. Their on-again, off-again relationship grew on me as the series progressed. I believed in their love for each other, and that is over half the plot, though I am not sure either of them would survive real-life espionage terrorists. They were just having way too much fun fighting all the time, and their characters seemed too one-dimensional as compared to SLOW HORSES.

NCIS: TONY & ZIVA is not rocket science. It is what it is… an average TV series that shares loving moments on one hand and knocks out villains with the other.

It is streaming on Paramount+.
