I had high expectations for a MYTHIC QUEST Christmas special, and that lofty excitement came crashing down faster than a ā720-plus-calorieā coffee. THE 12 HOURS OF CHRISTMASĀ shouldĀ work. It has all the elements to make for a classic Christmas edition of TV. Yet, they donāt, and hereās why:
- David BrittlesbeeĀ ā David Hornsby (also this episodeās director) perfectly portrays this middle-manager pushover. However, he shouldĀ neverĀ be the centerpiece of an MQ episode. Heās too whiny to be the focal point.
- Ā Funny āĀ MQ is usually hilarious. And outside of a few funny moments with Rachel, Dana, and Brad. This episode desperately lacked humor.Ā
Hereās what did work:
- JO (Jessie Ennis)Ā ā is this seasonās breakout star. Her learning to ādo friendshipā is funny and heartbreaking #TankGirl.
- Brad āĀ Danny Pudi is handsĀ down the funniest actor on MQ. The delivery of this quote killed me š ā āI just love Christmas. Itās the one day of the year that everyone expresses their love financially. Itās the high holy day of capitalism.ā
So with that, MQ has done a Christmas episode. The Results? There shouldāve been more chili.
Itās available on Apple TV+.
