I got a bit misty-eyed watching the characters take a “literal” walk down memory lane in the season finale of MYTHIC QUEST. Ian, Poppy, and C.W. have all shared enormous unexpected growth in just two seasons. While watching this sentimental moment, it hit me that this might not just be the season finale of the best show on TV that no one is watching, but also the series. 😢
The finale focuses a lot on David (David Hornsby) and the ramifications of being the “child” left behind in the decisions that his “parents” Ian and Poppy make. And boy, oh boy, their choices have immediate ramifications if this show does continue into a third season. A new creator has been passed the pen with a blank canvas, and what that looks like in the future has endless possibilities.
MYTHIC QUEST is proof that Rob McElhenney is not just a jokester with IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA pranks and humor. He’s the real deal, and his work on this series should garner him an Emmy for making the best TV show yet in 2021.
It’s available on Apple TV+.
