The latest from MYTHIC QUEST is another weak episode that focuses on Brad’s (Danny Pudi) backstory. Heck, even the obligatory Snoop Dogg cameo falls flat. The plot centers around Brad’s birthday and a surprise office visit by his brother. His motives are questionable, and it allows audiences to understand why Brad is the ruthless businessman he’s today.
There are a couple of great comedic scenes. Like Poppy saying, “I’m a woman of color, I can’t get canceled, can I?” Or Brad talking about his past with his assistant Jo while walking. Jo says, “Sorry, I’m lost.” His response, “Me too, is this a new hallway?”
I’m hopeful that MYTHIC QUEST finds its second-season mojo. You can tell the creators are world-building and giving the supporting cast more depth, yet it’s coming at the expense of the two powerhouse leads, Poppy and Ian.
It’s available on Apple TV+.
