MOXIE ๐Ÿ˜Š

MOXIE is Amy Poehlerโ€™s recent project which she directed and co-starred as a divorced mom of a quiet teenager. This movie is all about those angst years of finding your own voice within the unfair system of high school.

So many feminist issues are the norm for every woman at this school. Males rule and the girls are supposed to just sit back and let the gender abuse roll off their misunderstood bodies.

MOXIE tries to find that balance for all of their school problems whether it be in sports, dating, no means no, respect, helping each other and having consequences for everyone equally. This is a tall order for any film, and at times MOXIE falls short.

It is impossible to believe this much change can occur quickly. But it is uplifting and hopeful and helps us realize that we can strive to be better. It definitely doesnโ€™t hurt to have the band, Bikini Kill, as the dominant music we hear throughout. Even for a woman of my age, my toes were tapping away to the fun, rebellious beat!

MOXIE is available to stream on Netflix.
