MOVIEPASS, MOVIECRASH 🤩

As a movie lover living in Los Angeles, Moviepass was my best friend. Watching multiple movies in theaters for $9.99 a month was a dream come true. To this day, I still blame Moviepass for enabling me to see THE GREATEST SHOWMAN in theatres twelve times.

When I heard there was a new documentary about the rise and fall of what should still be the number one movie subscription, I was all. Director Muta’Ali Muhammad utilizes a boilerplate documentary style to recapture a riveting story. At times, it feels like THE WOLF OF WALLSTREET, watching CEOs Mitch Lowe and Ted Farnsworth burn through $250 million. And while watching Leo burn through money in WOLF OF WALLSTREET is fun, it’s devastating in MOVIEPASS, MOVIECRASH, since the original founders and the public suffer due to their greed.

The courage of the original founder, Stacy Spikes, makes MOVIEPASS, MOVIECRASH, a must-watch for all moviegoers. Knowing what I know about Moviepass after watching this film, I’m proud to have supported the company since the beta was relaunched in February 2023. It has allowed me to see films in Santa Barbara for a reasonable price. I’m okay with the fact that I’ll never be able to see a movie twelve times in theaters again for $9.99. The win here is that happy that smart, passionate founders like Spikes can disrupt the system and provide value for moviegoers.

Feb 2023: Moviepass beta card arrives!

It’s available on Max, which oddly costs $9.99 a month. 😉
