MARCELLO HERNANDEZ: AMERICAN BOY is a comedy special featuring Marcello’s hilarious take on all the different ways to be considered an American boy. It was recorded in Miami, where he spent most of his formative years. His life and humor were greatly influenced by his “Mommy,” who introduced him to the huge audience, and was in the wings waiting to hug him when he was done. He delivered a highly energetic 65-minute comedic set. It was sharp and fast-paced.
Marcello knows how to hold an audience in the palm of his hand and deliver zinger after zinger. He has been honing his skills on SNL for the last several years, and it shows. He offered great insight into a community of young men we don’t often hear about. He is proud of his heritage and family. He is respectful of how others might feel, and he didn’t offer expletives to make his point. This was refreshing. He is an artist who is a masterpiece at facial expressions and impressions of how the “white” world works. He made no apologies. It just is what it is, and he captured the essence of our society through his unique perspective.
MARCELLO HERNANDEZ: AMERICAN BOY was an easy jaunt and filled with funny, humorous stories. I have a feeling this is only the beginning.
It is streaming on Netflix.
