LUCY AND DESI 🤩

LUCY AND DESI is a documentary produced by Amy Poehler. It delves deeper into the professional and private lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz than the current hit movie BEING THE RICARDOS.

LUCY AND DESI  created their beloved I LOVE LUCY series to ensure they could be together. For Desi, it was never “just a title of a show.” They truly loved each other, but there was too much power and responsibility on the line that, in the end, drove them apart.

When they created The Desilu Studios, some of the best television shows were produced. I had forgotten the number of quality and quantity. From THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, the original STAR TREK, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, THAT GIRL, THE UNTOUCHABLES, HOGANS HEROES, MY THREE SONS, and many more. They purchased RKO and later joined forces with Paramount Studios. They had an amazing run.

I loved LUCY AND DESI so much because of the personal stories, quotes, and clips from their lives. Mentoring other famous stars such as Bette Midler, Carol Burnett, and Mary Tyler Moore was fascinating. Lucy made a difference in so many lives. She created acting studios for young, aspiring “wannabes” who could hone their talent. Desi was a consummate producer. He was the creative force behind the scenes. Lucy had total command of the stage. She always thought she was not a funny person. She demanded tons of rehearsal to make sure every detail was perfect, and all the many props worked exactly the way she planned. She was a creative genius about her craft.

Even though Lucy and Desi eventually grew apart, divorced, and married another, they still managed to love each other. This film discussed the good and the ugly parts of their journey together. Their story was truly about unconditional love. LUCY AND DESI was informative, loving, and well-produced. It will make you laugh and move you to tears as you travel down memory lane. It is worthy of your time.

LUCY AND DESI is available to stream on Amazon Video.
