LANTERNS premiered with just one episode, PILOT. There were more questions than answers raised in this sci-fi mystery series that lingers around the extraordinary power of the green ring, aliens, and those in-training. It is an intriguing, fresh, mature story line that is based on the DC comic, GREEN HORNET. I am not as knowledgeable on the GREEN LANTERN, but I can offer who the creators and writers are so it will be easier to understand the direction of this new take on a familiar character to many fans.
Chris Mundy (TRUE DETECTIVE, OZARK), Tom King (WANDAVISION, SUPERGIRL, SUPERMAN, LOKI), and Damon Lindelof (LOST) are the creative team behind LANTERNS. After checking out their combined resumes, I imagine it will be a bumpy, confusing, ambiguous, action-packed, thought-provoking ride to the final frame. This is good since the series also features a stellar cast of actors including Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, and Kelly Macdonald, who have already established strong, perplexing characters within just one episode. I say…bring it on.
LANTERNS has really piqued my interest. I can’t wait to explore and discover the magic and wonder of a green ring even if the person who wears it chooses not to be attired in a green jumpsuit.
