LANDMAN S2 REVIEW 🤩

LANDMAN just completed its second season with an intriguing plot hook, so it’s likely to be renewed. It is hard to believe how deeply this series infiltrated my brain and heart. The writers made sure to add layer after layer to already fully conceived characters, and wisely introduced the brilliant actor Sam Elliott as T.L. Clever. The creative story content gave fans a behind-the-scenes tour and tutorial of the Texas oil fields.

Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy is fabulous. He has the power to hold this entire ensemble together. His performance is subtle, yet powerful, and brutally honest. His facial expressions will reach out and grab audiences in every frame.  He is the glue that binds everyone together. Each episode moved forward and was filled with extraordinary, imaginative storytelling. I was so sad to see it end…for now.

For me, the draw is how all the characters keep growing and bonding in ways I never saw coming. A pole-dancing stripper, a lioness lawyer, a cheerleader, a skinny, scrawny son, a very vocal wife, a mobster, a widow, a wannabe oil company owner, and oil rig workers all join hands to create moments of fun and drama. It was worth every minute spent with all of them.

LANDMAN is an example of fine tv viewing. It is straightforward and doesn’t miss a beat. The scripts are about life along the Texan oilfield landscape. It is a sharp contrast to living anywhere else, but I will be a frequent visitor as long as it is around. Don’t miss it. It is a delightful treat.

LANDMAN is streaming on Paramount+.
